CHICAGO – Governor J.B. Pritzker says most of the state is on track to move to the next phase of reopening at the end of the month.
Under his “Restore Illinois” program, the state is divided into four regions.
The governor said each region must meet certain benchmarks to move to the next phase of economic recovery.
That’s when barbershops, salons, and retail stores may open with restrictions.
According to Pritzker, it’s important that Illinois does not just open everything back up.
“Lifting all of our mitigation’s by the end of May, would likely lead to a second wave of outbreak in each and every one of our regions.” Pritzker said.
The area of concern is the northeast region, which includes Chicago and the suburbs.
Pritzker says there is still time to see a decrease in positive tests and move to phase three as well.
