SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The Illinois Department of Public Health Saturday announced 2,325 new cases of the coronavirus (COVID-19), including 111 additional deaths.
Director of the IDPH, Dr. Ngozi Ezike, is thanking Gov. J-B Pritzker for supporting public health efforts to contain the virus statewide.
“Every corner of Illinois is being cared for in the best way that’s possible. In the past 24 hours, labs have processed 16,617 tests,” Ezike said.
The IDPH reported on Saturday a total of 76,085 positive cases of COVID-19 and 3,349 deaths in 98 Illinois counties.
Ezike said if you can’t be with your mom this Mother’s Day due to Illinois’ current stay-at-home order, it’s important to still honor her.
“To all mothers, and people that have served as mothers, and to people that will be able to creatively or in-person celebrate their mothers, I encourage you all to enjoy this Mother’s Day weekend.”
