PEORIA, Ill — A string of recent residential burglaries in Pekin may be over with the arrest of several suspects this week.
The arrests came after a sustained standoff with Pekin Police at a local residence.
Officers say it happened on Thursday.
As the Pekin Police Department’s investigation into the burglaries continued, police say they got a tip which led them to a home, although officers don’t specify the location in their release.
Several subjects inside the residence barricaded themselves and refused to exit.
The Central Illinois Emergency Response Team (CIERT) was requested.
CIERT responded and took the remaining suspects into custody.
Several firearms and a significant amount of stolen property was located inside the residence. Numerous arrests were made and the investigation is still ongoing.
