PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria emergency crews were called about 2:45 p.m. Sunday to the 5900 block of N. Wacker Drive on reports of a house fire.
Smoke could be seen coming from the structure when firefighters arrived on the scene.
Acting Battalion Chief Scott Strum said three minors escaped before crews arrived.
“One minor suffered burns to her right wrist attempting to put out the fire. She was transported to and treated at OSF Hospital.”
Strum said two cats were recovered from the home and turned over to the tenant.
The Red Cross provided temporary shelter to one adult and four children.
The cause of the fire was determined to be unintentional.
