SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Driver’s Services facilities statewide remain closed.
Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White’s office confirms facilities will stay closed an additional week, opening again to the public on Monday or Tuesday, Jan. 24 or 25, depending on regular business hours.
Secretary of State Spokesperson Henry Haupt said the decision was made in order to protect the health of workers and customers amidst the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. He said it shouldn’t cause too big of a hassle.
“Driver’s license and ID card expirations have been extended until March 31st. And, Secretary White also extended the expirations for C-D-Ls until January 31st, for those C-D-Ls that expired between November 1st and January of this year,” Haupt said.
Haupt said C-D-L facilities in Rockford, Springfield and Marion will open next Tuesday (Jan. 18) for in-person C-D-L transactions only. He reminds drivers that they can renew license plate stickers online at: ilsos.gov.
