CHICAGO, Ill. – There is now at least one Republican candidate joining the field looking to be elected Illinois’ Attorney General in the November election.
Steve Kim — who has run for statewide office before unsuccessfully — describes himself in a statement as a “respected attorney, former advisor to Governor Jim Edgar, and son of immigrants.”
Kim, in that statement, uses the name of ousted former Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan, and describes the state capitol as a “cesspool” to the benefit of political insiders.
Kim is a resident of the Chicago area, as are the other Democrat candidates in the race: incumbent Kwame Raoul, Chicago City Clerk Anna Valencia, and former state treasurer Alexi Giannoulias.
