PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria Firefighters were called just before 10:30 p.m. Wednesday to a home in the 500 block of S. Warren on reports of a fire.
Heavy smoke and fire were seen coming from the first and second floors of the home when crews arrived on the scene.
Fire Battalion Chief Rick Morgan said a floor collapsed, causing a firefighter to fall and land on a nail, leaving him with a puncture wound to his left buttock. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment and was later released.
Faulty wiring appeared to be the cause of the fire.
The Red Cross was called to the scene to assist two residents with temporary housing.
Damage is estimated at $50,000.
