TREMONT, Ill. — The 55th annual Tremont Turkey Festival will not take place this year.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, organizers announced Tuesday the three-day event has been canceled.
Dates for the festival were set to be announced, but original dates were June 12-14.
“While this is an extremely difficult decision to make, the health and well being of the thousands of festival goers, vendors and countless volunteers is our main concern,” organizers said in a statement.
The Turkey Festival draws in crowds from central Illinois for food, games and other events.
Organizers plan to bring back the Tremont Turkey Festival in 2021.
