WASHINGTON, D.C. — Illinois Congressman Adam Kinzinger is hinting about what his future is, while commenting on the violence one year ago Thursday at the U.S. Capitol.
“This time last year, I hoped victory would come in a matter of months. Now, I see it will take years,” said Kinzainger. “That’s why I’m transitioning from serving just one corner of Illinois, into fighting this new nationwide mission full-time.”
The Rockford-area Congressman made the comments on Country1st.com — his website.
Kinzinger says the Republican Party — of which he is still a member — is still not the party he remembers.
“The 2020 election was not stolen. Joe Biden won, and Donald Trump lost,” said Kinzinger. “We have to admit it. But the leadership of the Republican Party won’t. They lied to the American people, and they still are.”
Kinzinger says Republicans need to start coming up with solutions, instead of stoking the fire of problems.
“Our so-called leaders refuse to lead,” said Kinzinger. “They’re stoking division, when they should be tackling the root causes that led to January 6th — anger, fear, and hopelessness.”
Kinzinger is not seeking another term in Congress, and had been suggested as a candidate for a statewide office in Illinois.
