PEORIA, Ill. — As part of their contract with the City of Peoria, Peoria Disposal Company typically picks up large and bulky items at the curb with your trash.
But, PDC’s Eric Shangraw said they’ve had to make some temporary changes in that area due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“Folks can set out mattresses, box springs, entertainment centers, love seats each week. But, during this pandemic, we’ve had to suspend that part of our service,” Shangraw said.
Shangraw told WMBD’s Greg and Dan, if you put those bulky items out at the curb, they won’t be picked up until Illinois’ stay-at-home order is lifted.
PDC has seen a significant increase in the amount of trash homes are producing while we’re stuck at home, especially from our kitchens and bathrooms.
“The worse thing you can do is dump that loose on the top of the cart. Put that in a little baggy, so that when that guy flips that lid open, it doesn’t fly in his face,” Shangraw said.
Shangraw said the request is just a small way to help protect PDC workers from the coronavirus.
