(Undated) — A manhunt continues in the wake of a deadly officer-involved shooting in Illinois.
One police officer is dead and another is critically injured following the shooting late Wednesday.
According to the Daily-Journal in Bradley, Illinois, police responded to a local Comfort Inn hotel on Highway 50 last night around 9:40 p.m.
Callers reportedly told dispatchers about dogs barking loudly in an unattended vehicle outside in the parking lot.
The local paper says Officers found the vehicle and the hotel room where the possible owner was staying and were then subsequently attacked by the person (or people) inside.
The slain officer is identified as 49-year-old Sgt. Marlene Rittmanic.
The other wounded officer’s name has not been released.
They are reportedly being cared for at a Chicago-area hospital now.
Bradley Police and the Kankakee County Sheriff’s Office put out a bulletins telling the public about a suspect in the case identified as 25-year-old Darius Sullivan.
Police are also looking for another person of interest who remains unidentified.
Police say that if you encounter Sullivan, do not attempt to confront him as he is believed to be armed and dangerous.

This is the first time Kankakee County has seen an officer shot in the line of duty since the death of Anthony Samfay in 1996.
It comes on the heels of the early Wednesday killing of Wayne County Sheriff’s Deputy Sean Riley.
A suspect is arrested in that case and is identified as 40-year-old Ray Tate of Hopkinsville, Kentucky.
