SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Illinois Gov. J-B Pritzker wants organizers of summer events across the state to consider canceling those events due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Illinois’ current stay-at-home order lasts until April 30, and the governor said he doesn’t expect the order to end early. Pritzker said we will need to be careful as well going into the summer months.
“I think everybody needs to thing seriously about cancelling large summer events until we have a vaccine, which months and months away. I would not risk having large groups of people getting together anywhere,” Pritzker said.
Pritzker said he knows that it’s hard to hear, but he wants to prevent another spike in cases in Illinois.
