PEORIA, Ill. – OSF HealthCare says go somewhere else if you want to get tested for COVID-19 but don’t have any symptoms.
OSF says it’s pausing asymptomatic and close contact testing at its facilities, saying they are equipped to handle testing for those who are sick or injured or preparing for a procedure, but patient volume is currently too great for anyone else.
“Right now all across the nation, we’re seeing a huge surge in COVID-19 cases,” said Michael Cruz, MD, Chief Operating Officer, in a news release.
The healthcare system says there are plenty of other testing sites you can go to if you don’t exhibit symptoms, including the Peoria Civic Center, for which the State is expanding hours of operation to six days a week.
No word on if UnityPoint Health will have similar restrictions.
