Peoria, Ill — A beleaguered Peoria fire company remains out of service despite the highest hopes of a quick return and as COVID-19 infections continue spreading.
Company Two, serving areas between West Peoria and downtown MIGHT have been operational by today (Monday), but the fire chief tells us — it is not.
Chief Jim Bachman says there are even more staffing shortages resulting from positive COVID-19 infections and mandatory isolations.
Company Two was earlier taken out of service for months due to pandemic impacts.
It had just been returned to service in the past several weeks.
Chief Bachman says the local fire company will certainly be back up and running by New Year’s Day, but could not say whether it might resume service in the meantime.
