CHICAGO — There are now 13,549 COVID-19 cases in Illinois across 77 of 102 counties.
Gov. J.B. Pritzker acknowledged during his daily address Tuesday that they know there are many people who have the virus but have not been tested.
He added that no state has the testing capabilities of somewhere like South Korea where they can test people who are asymptomatic.
As of yesterday, 43% of hospital beds in Illinois are available, said Pritzker.
In Peoria, 42% of ICU beds are currently available. Pritzker said that Peoria is closely being monitored as the situation evolves.
Across the state, only 35% of ICU beds are available with less than 25% available in the Chicago area.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom sent 100 ventilators to Illinois overnight to assist with immediate needs, said Pritzker.
Currently, 57% of ventilators in the state are not being used. The IDPH said that Illinois has placed orders for 3,620 ventilators using state level procurement.
Pritzker said that when Illinois has the ability the state will assist others however able.
The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) Tuesday announced 1,287 new cases of COVID-19 in Illinois, including 73 additional deaths.
Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 13,549 cases, including 380 deaths, in 77 counties in Illinois.
