CHICAGO — At his daily address Thursday, Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker discussed alternative care facilities for patients of COVID-19.
Pritkzer said that these facilities are being used as support to the existing medical infrastructure.
If patients are examined and are experiencing more mild symptoms, they will be transferred to an alternative care facility while the more severe patients will be treated in hospitals.
As of right now, all four confirmed alternative care facilities are in and around the Chicago area.
Pritzker again reiterated that it’s possible hospitals could get to a point where there is not enough capacity to treat all those who will become ill.
Pritzker then criticized the action of the federal government during the pandemic, saying that states are doing everything they can without much support.
Pritzker said that on a state level Illinois has exhausted nearly every avenue available.
A new state-wide initiative, All-In Illinois, was announced by Pritzker on Thursday as well.

The initiative is asking for residents to make a commitment to stay home during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) today announced 715 new cases of COVID-19 in Illinois, including 16 additional deaths.
Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 7,695 cases, including 157 deaths, in 61 counties in Illinois. The new counties reporting cases are Logan, Macoupin, Mercer, Moultrie, and Piatt counties.
