PEORIA HEIGHTS, Ill. — The Peoria Heights Village Board has granted temporary emergency powers to Mayor Michael Phelan.
This gives him such powers as entering into contracts on his own, employing temporary workers, making necessary purchases pertinent to the situation, and evacuating areas that may be at-risk.
Peoria City Council could vote on a similar measure at Tuesday’s meeting.
