PEORIA, Ill — A GoFundMe page is now posted to help the family of a woman reportedly strangled to death and then burned in Peoria’s East Bluff this week.
You’ll remember the case involving 24-year-old J’Naysia Hobbs.
Peoria Police and firefighters found her body in a burned out home at 1021 E. Virginia Ave. early Wednesday morning.
“The strangulation, we know, based on our autopsy findings, was by another person. The case remains under investigation by the Peoria Police,” Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said.
Tahir Goodman, 28, is accused of killing the woman and then allegedly burning down the house. Bond Friday was set at $2 million, and Goodman will be back in court December 29th.
We’re told Hobbs’ mother launched this more recent private fund raising effort as a measure of paying for, “memorial expenses”.
Family members are hoping to raise at least $10,000 with the effort.
Hobbs leaves behind two sons following her death.
