PEORIA, Ill. — In response to the state-mandated closure of all K-12 schools due to the coronavirus outbreak, Peoria Public Schools will be distributing free meals to students throughout the closure.
18 sites across the city will be open from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, Tuesday, March 17 through March 30th.
Any child 18 years of age or younger can pick up the free meals from the sites.
Food distribution sites include Richwoods High Schools, Peoria High School and Manual High Schools, as well as a number of middle and primary schools. For a full list of locations, click HERE.
“We have individuals with disability, that need door-to-door, they can call 2-1-1. This is a really collaborative effort with Salvation Army and United Way. We are actually also serving other districts that are not able to serve meals,” Kherat said.
The Salvation Army will provide mobile meals at Taft Homes, Harrison Homes and the River West area.
