PEORIA, Ill. – The Peoria County Auditor has filed a lawsuit against the county board, over the approval of a budget that slashed her office to just her.
Our news partner 25 News reports Jessica Thomas filed the suit through law firm Miller, Hall, and Triggs, and claims County Board Chair Andrew Rand, Vice Chair Jim Fennell, and State’s Attorney Jodi Hoos essentially got past the Constitutionally-mandated requirements of the office.
Thomas’ three employees were cut with the newly-approved budget, but were allegedly given the opportunity to apply elsewhere in the county. Both sides have made allegations of lying and dishonesty against the other.
Thomas wants her office’s 2021 budget level to be restored, and to restore those jobs.
