PEORIA (25News Now) – Bradley men’s basketball opened its season Monday night at Carver Arena as mid-major programs nationwide grapple with name, image, and likeness or NIL.
Fans gathered in Peoria for opening night as head coach Brian Wardle began his 12th season leading the Braves.
Power 4 programs continue to offer record NIL packages to recruits. Braves leadership said the program remains focused on adapting to the changing recruiting landscape without losing sight of its roots.
Chris Reynolds, the vice president for intercollegiate athletics and the director of athletics, said, “It’s our perspective and our opportunity to be able to put the best team on the court at all times.”
Reynolds said community and alumni support remain essential as Bradley adapts to the changing recruiting landscape.
National discussions about congressional intervention to regulate NIL are growing. Athletic officials said their immediate attention remains on building a winning season on the floor.
