SPRINGFIELD, Ill. –The extreme heat is affecting roads across the state.
As folks are headed out for the holiday weekend, the Illinois Department of Transportation says to be on the lookout for road buckling due to the heat.
Pavement failures, buckling and blowouts happen with little warning during periods of prolonged heat and humidity, resulting in uneven driving surfaces.
Officials say maintenance personnel will be on standby to make repairs as quickly as possible—you can report those failures to IDOT or to law enforcement.
