PEORIA, Ill. – A donation to OSF St. Francis in Peoria will help deliver healthier babies, and detect potential problems after birth.
On Thursday, the Gilmore Foundation presented the hospital with a $90,000 donation in proceeds from the Peoria Food + Wine Festival. The proceeds are going to assist the OSF Maternal-Fetal program.
OSF President Michael Wells says the gift came after conversations with the foundation to determine what the best fit for the donation would be.
“As we talked through what programs they are passionate about, maternal-fetal medicine is something they’re very passionate about, and it’s an area where we certainly were interested in receiving a gift to step up the level of programming we have available there,” Wells said.
Wells says the gift will go towards an ultrasound machine for the clinic. He says the ultrasound will utilize 3D technology to help detect better potential health issues with the baby after birth.
Wells says the donation covers half the cost of the machine, with the hospital covering the other half.
