PEORIA, Ill. (25 News) – The Central Illinois Emergency Expo is returning to Peoria next week for its twentieth year.
Organizers like Peoria County Director of Strategic Communications Gretchen Pearsall said she hopes it can help people feel more comfortable with first responders in a positive, stress-free environment.
“A lot of time when you first meet a first responder, it might be in a stressful situation after you’ve called 911, and if you’re a child, that can be scary seeing people in all their gear for the first time,” she said. “This is a way people can come to their neighbors who are in these positions and see people in their gear.”
Pearsall said the event is family-friendly and will feature more than two dozen emergency service agencies from across the greater Peoria area. She also said a variety of equipment and emergency vehicles will be on display, including a life flight landing demonstration.
The expo will be held on Wednesday, June 17, at the Shoppes at Grand Prairie from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
