PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria Public Works continue cleanup efforts following last week’s heavy rain, high winds, and severe thunderstorms that impacted much of the City.
Crews have been working to remove numerous fallen trees and large limbs blocking streets, alleys, and sidewalks. Cleanup efforts are expected to continue over the next few days as crews address storm-related damage throughout the City.
Residents who need to report a downed tree or limb blocking a street, alley, or sidewalk may do so through the following methods:
- Contact Public Works
- By phone at 309-494-8800

Residents are also reminded that storm debris will be collected along with their regular yard waste. Branches and limbs should be bundled with a non-metallic cord, be no more than five feet in length, weigh no more than 50 pounds, and be placed at the curb on the residents’ regular GFL collection day.
Residents may also place unbundled yard waste in personal containers. Acceptable containers include plastic or metal garbage cans between 40 and 45 gallons in size with two handles and a tight-fitting lid, or wheeled carts between 65 and 95 gallons in size. Containers should be clearly marked with a “Yard Waste Only” sticker, available at City Hall, Public Works, or any GFL location.
