PEORIA, Ill. – A two-vehicle accident at a busy Peoria intersection claimed the life of the one of the drivers.
Peoria police say the accident occurred at 11:32 p.m. Saturday at the corner of War Memorial Drive and Sheridan Road.
The driver of one of the vehicles, a small sedan, was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. A passenger was fully alert and transported to a hospital as a precaution.
The driver of the other vehicle, described as a small SUV, was transported to a local hospital with what were decribed as non-life threatening injuries.
No names or other details of the crash were released, except the Peoria Fire Department described it as a “T-bone type accident,” and that both vehicles sustained major damage.
The intersection of War Memorial Drive and Sheridan Road was closed for nearly three hours following the crash.
