(Reuters) – More than 246.78 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus globally and 5,232,657 have died, according to a Reuters tally.
Infections have been reported in more than 210 countries and territories since the first cases were identified in China in December 2019.
The United States leads the world in the number of confirmed deaths from COVID-19 with more than 745,800 people dead.
Brazil has seen more than 607,000 deaths and India has over 450,000 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
