PEORIA, Ill. – A woman has been convicted for a fatal stabbing at a South Peoria gas station two years ago.
The Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office says 55-year-old Cathy Logan was found guilty of First Degree Murder on Wednesday after a three-day trial.
Peoria Police responded to the Phillips 66 on Western Avenue in August of 2023, where they found two women applying pressure to a single stab wound to 26-year-old Tenazisha Green. Green was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
During the trial, witnesses testified Logan arrived at the gas station, put her purse down, grab a pair of scissors, approached Green, and stabbed her.
Logan testified the act was done in self-defense, and claimed that Green threatened her and dropped a knife during the confrontation. But prosecutors say video surveillance shows Green walking away from Logan before she approached and stabbed Green in the chest. The video reportedly shows that Green did not drop a knife during the altercation.
Prosecutors say the stabbing weapon was never recovered.
Logan is scheduled for sentencing on December 19th.
