FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM FRIDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH SATURDAY
MORNING…
The National Weather Service in Lincoln has expanded the
* Flood Watch to include portions of central Illinois and west
central Illinois, including the following areas, in central
Illinois, Peoria. In west central Illinois, Fulton and
Schuyler.
* From Friday afternoon through Saturday morning
* Rain will develop across the area on Thursday and Thursday
night. Heavier rain will to move in from the southwest Friday
afternoon and evening, and continue into Saturday morning.
Widespread rain totals around 3 inches, with locally higher
amounts, are possible.
* The forecast rain amounts could lead to flooding of low lying
areas which could impact some roads. In addition, minor urban
flooding is possible, especially where storm drains are
obstructed. Rises on area rivers and streams are possible,
which may lead to flooding.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.
You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
