TAZEWELL COUNTY, Ill. – Several local healthcare facilities will be offering free mammograms on Friday, October 17, which is National Mammogram Day.
The Tazewell County Health Department is partnering with Carle Health to provide free mammograms at two Carle facilities in Peoria: Carle Health North on N. Allen Road, and Carle Health-Proctor, on N. Knoxville Avenue, as well as at Carle Health-Pekin, on S. 13th Street, on Friday from 9 a.m.- 4 p.m.
Eligible women ages 40-64 can receive a free mammogram, without review of their income, including those who are uninsured or underinsured.
Funding for the free mammograms comes from the Illinois Department of Public Health’s Breast & Cervical Cancer Program.
Tazewell County and Carle Health officials say mammograms are critical to early detection of symptoms, early diagnosis and swift treatment of breast cancer.
Along with a free mammogram, eligible women can enroll in the Illinois Breast and Cervical Cancer Program through the Tazewell County Health Department.
IBCCP offers scheduled, free cervical cancer screenings through local health providers.
