PEORIA, Ill. – Dave Templin says Agatucci’s in Peoria is a special place.
“When I go in there, I have flashbacks of when I was a little kid of being in there with my parents,” Templin tells WMBD’s “The Phil Luciano Show.” “There’s things spread around the wall like the backwards clock and the hand sign.”
Templin says he was also part of a group of people who would anxiously await for the pizza restaurant to reopen after an annual three-week closure for vacations. The group eventually turned into a super fan group, and now the group is wanting to mark Agatucci’s 100th year in business.
The century of operations for Agatucci’s does not occur until next year, but Templin and his group are wanting to get things underway sooner rather than later. The numerous items being planned will kick off next week, when the city of Peoria dedicates a portion of Gift Ave. on University St. “Via Agatucci.” Templin says it means “Agatucci Way” in Italian.
Templin says a special logo will also be revealed on Wednesday at the ceremony, and be available on merchandise and at the restaurant.
