PEORIA, Ill. – A man has been sentenced to more than six decades in prison for the 2021 murder of his girlfriend near Brimfield.
The Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office says Joshua McGee was sentenced to 55 years for First Degree Murder, and must serve all of that. He was also sentenced to ten years for an Unlawful Possession of a Weapon charge.
McGee was found guilty in August in the death of his girlfriend, Ashley Tankersley, on August 22nd, 2021.
Tankersley was found in a roadside ditch near Philander Chase Lane and US 150 by Peoria County Sheriff’s Deputies, and later died at a hospital.
Forensic testing confirmed Tankersley’s blood was on McGee’s shoes, and cellular forensics placed his phone at the scene of the murder.
