MORTON, Ill. – Morton Police says a threat made against Jefferson School in the past week was determined to be not credible.
In a statement, the department says an investigation was opened after the threat was made during the school day on August 29th.
The alleged threat involves a student making a statement of bringing a firearm to school this past Tuesday.
Morton Police says the threat was not credible and the alleged juvenile had no access to firearms at any time, and no one was in danger.
Officers with Morton Police did arrive at the start of the school day on Tuesday, with no additional incidents reported.
Police say the incident was referred to the Tazewell County State’s Attorney’s Office for potential charges.
