PEORIA, Ill. – One of Broadway’s most beloved musicals is “Playing in Peoria”.
“Wicked” performances are underway at the Prairie Home Alliance Theater at the Peoria Civic Center.
Sharon Sachs, who plays Madame Morrible, tells WMBD’s “Greg and Dan” that she caught the acting bug at a very young age in Rockford, Illinois.
“We had an awesome park district that did a lot of theater when I was growing up there. And, we had some great educators that were very motivated to do professional-style theater,” Sach says.
Sachs’ character in “Wicked”, Madame Morrible, is very connected to the main characters Glinda and Elphaba.
“She’s the instructor at Shiz University. So, she teaches the girls how to use their magic,” Sachs says.
Sachs, a seasoned performer with many roles under her belt, has been featured in more than 1,000 performances of “Wicked” on Broadway and on the national tour.
Not only is Sachs a veteran actress, she’s been a theater wardrobe professional in Chicago and Los Angeles, where she now lives.
Tickets for both matinee and evening performances are still available at the Toyota Box Office at the Peoria Civic Center and at Ticketmaster through August 31.
