PEORIA, Ill. – Tee It Up for the Troops is all about giving back to veterans and active duty military.
The annual event returns to Peoria’s Mt. Hawley Country Club on Monday.
Volunteer Jeff Kohlbus says it’s a reunion for those that have given and continue to give their service to our country.
He tells WMBD’s “Greg and Dan”, donations to the event help local veterans through a number of charities.
“(Greater Peoria) Honor Flight, Goodwill Home for Homeless Veterans, the Bob Michel Home, the Fuller Center, Freedom Paws, the Military Order of Purple Heart are some of our charities that we are able to give to every year,” Kohlbus says.
The whole day is complimentary for vets and active duty personnel.
“They get to play golf in the morning. They come for breakfast, then a round of golf, lunch…then there’s a military ceremony. And, then the sponsors, that make it all happen, they get to play golf in the afternoon,” Kohlbus says.
