SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – School districts across central Illinois are receiving a portion of more than $300 million issued by the state in its evidence-based funding formula for fiscal year 26.
The formula was signed into law in 2017, and combines five grant programs into one to help balance out districts that are under-resourced. It’s calculated by determining the cost of educating all students, measuring the number of resources each local district has, and handing out additional state funds to meet Adequacy Targets.
The largest recipient in the Peoria-area was Peoria Public Schools, receiving $8,853,916.
