PEORIA, Ill. – Republican Congressman Darin LaHood (IL-16), is back from Congress’ latest session in Washington, D.C.
LaHood spoke with WMBD’s “Greg and Dan” Thursday morning about President Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill”, and pressures on the Trump Administration to release more of the Jeffrey Epstein files.
LaHood, a former federal prosecutor, said what happened with Epstein was unacceptable, and horrible crimes were committed against his victims.
“From my perspective, there has to be full transparency, and the Congress plays a role in that. And, I’ve said we need to have everything come out. We need to see the list, we need to see the flight logs, we need to see the evidence. All of that needs to come out,” LaHood says.
Jeffrey Espstein served 13 months on felony prostitution charges from the state of Florida in 2008. He faced additional charges in New York and Florida in 2019, but was never convicted, after being found dead in a Manhattan jail cell that year.
Senate Democrats say they are prepared to sue President Trump over the release of additional files in Epstein’s criminal case.
LaHood also tells WMBD’s “Greg and Dan” President Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” will put more money in everyone’s pockets, but lawmakers could have done more with debt and the deficit.
“We cut $1.5 trillion over ten years. We probably should have cut $2.5 trillion on that, but the political will to go farther on the debt and deficit wasn’t there,” LaHood says.
Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” touts the largest taxes ever, which the president says will benefit the middle class, better wages, a child tax credit and more financial support for senior citizens.
