PEORIA, Ill. – A member of a violent street gang in the Peoria area will reportedly testify against fellow members of his group.
23-year-old Quandarius Jones pleaded guilty Wednesday to one count of Violation of the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act.
Jones was one of ten members of the group known as the “Snakes” who were indicted in October last year for violent events that included alleged murders and shootings.
The Peoria County Circuit Clerk’s Office says as part of a plea deal, a First Degree Murder count against Jones will be dropped, as well as testifying against fellow Snakes.
Jones is the first defendant of the ten to plead guilty.
Sentencing will be scheduled at a later date, with Jones looking at 8-18 years in the Department of Corrections.
