EAST PEORIA, Ill. – The new home for the East Peoria Police Department reached a construction milestone on Tuesday.
A Steel Topping Out ceremony took place to mark the installation of the final piece of the building’s structural framework.
The ceremony was attended by members of the police department, city leaders, and leaders with River City Construction, the firm behind the project.
Police Chief David Catton says the ceremony acknowledges the people who have made the building possible.
“It’s maybe just a steel beam, but it’s also all the craftsmen and the community members who all worked on this project,” Catton said.
Catton says the next steps include pouring the building’s floors.
The two-story, $21 million building located on Camp Street near Clock Tower Drive is expected to be finished by next summer.
