WASHINGTON, Ill. – The city of Washington says it has identified a raw sewage leak that is affecting a tributary that leads to Farm Creek.
In a Facebook post, it says there is no risk to the municipal water system. But the city is asking residents to avoid contact with downstream areas of the creek until further notice.
City crews worked to fix the issue.
Washington has reached out to the Illinois EPA about the incident and is awaiting the agency’s recommendations on it.
