PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria Riverfront Museum is celebrating a record-setting fiscal year, with its most successful exhibition in the museum’s history, its highest museum membership, a record three million digital engagements, and strong partnerships with New York museums, at its “State of the Museum” event Wednesday night.
Museum Board Chair Todd Baker said it’s been an outstanding year of firsts. “The Peoria Riverfront Museum has become a centerpiece for our community and a source of national recognition.”
Among many achievements, the museum had a record 3.1 million digital engagements, 160,000 in-person engagements, an all-time high in both Visionary Society and general museum memberships, with 525 and 5,401 members to date, respectively.
Linda Washkuhn-Sutkowski, performance advisory council chair, was recognized for a $500,000 gift that her husband, Ed Sutkowski, and she have made to support a special series of America 250-themed performances at the museum.
The James Smithson Leadership Award, the highest award given by the museum honoring individuals who have made significant contributions to the museum, was presented to nationally-recognized artists Preston Jackson and Lonnie Stewart.
