PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria firefighters responded to a call just before 12 a.m. Wednesday from the 2300 block of W. Millman.
Crews found a detached garage at the back of a residence on fire.
Battalion Chief Nathan Rice said the garage had a large amount of stored furniture inside it.
An individual who was sleeping in the garage escaped before crews arrived on the scene.
The victim was taken to a local hospital for possible smoke inhalation.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
