PEORIA, Ill. — The City of Peoria Snow Fighters hit the streets Monday morning around 8 a.m.
Sie Maroon, Assistant Public Works Director, said the initial snowfall melted as it hit the ground. But, with a drop in ground and air temperatures and an increase in winds, the pavement conditions have changed.
Maroon said Peoria’s roads are slick and starting to see some accumulation. He reminds residents that Peoria crews do not plow the residential areas until there is at least two inches of snow on the ground.
Crews will monitor road conditions throughout the day for the possibility of a refreeze.
Maroon urged drivers to travel with caution.
