PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria High School students were let out early Friday after another week has ended with multiple incidents being reported.
Spokesperson Thomas Bruch says there were a number of disruptions Friday, including at least one pulled fire alarm. Police from multiple agencies were called to the scene.
Video is being shared on social media of at least one fight that broke out. Teachers told our news partner 25 News fights at the school started at 7:15 a.m. and lasted most of the day, and that a fire alarm was pulled around lunch.
Multiple security measures will be in place for class on Monday morning, according to District 150, and there will be a remote learning option.
Police say several arrests were made, and it’s believed that both people inside and outside the school setting are responsible for the fights.
Friday’s high school football game between Peoria High and Manual has been postponed until Sunday, and is now among several weekend extra-curricular events also being called off.
