PEORIA, Ill. – (25 News) The Peoria Riverfront Museum honored the lives lost in the 9/11 terror attacks on the 20th anniversary of the tragedy.
The museum also honored Charles “Chip” Chan of Peoria who was among the nearly 3,000 victims.
Chan’s parents, accompanied by former congressman and U.S. Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood, placed a memorial wreath in the museum Saturday.
Chan, 23, a 1995 graduate of Richwoods High School, was working as a bond trader for Cantor Fitzgerald on the 105th floor of the World Trade Center north tower when a hijacked jetliner crashed into the building.
The museum also honored first responders and active military members and their families with free admission and tickets to a movie in the Giant Screen Theater.
