PEORIA, Ill. – After about a year of being closed for construction, Northmoor Road in Peoria will reopen to all traffic.
The stretch of Northmoor between Allen Rd. and University is expected to be open by mid-morning on Friday, October 25th, weather permitting.
According to Peoria Public Works, look for day-time lane closures in the next few weeks, as some minor work is expected to take place.
Motorists were asked to use caution, and to be aware of new traffic patterns, especially at the intersection of Imperial Drive and Northmoor Road.
Peoria City Engineer Bill Lewis said, “Northmoor Road in Peoria has been completely rebuilt between Allen Road and University Street.”
The new features include three vehicular lanes (one lane in each direction and a center turn lane), a sidewalk on the north side of the road, a biking/walking path on the south side of the road, ornamental street lighting, trees, and native plants.
The $10.9 million road project was supported by approximately $7 million in federal grants.
