PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood has released the name of the victim in Thursday’s fatal fire at a Peoria home.
Harwood says Don Watson, 72, suffered severe smoke inhalation and burns covering more than 95 percent of his body. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the fire which was contained to a bedroom at a home near Gale and Richwoods.
A firefighter suffered an elbow injury making a rescue from that home.
Harwood says toxicology tests on Watson are pending, but likely won’t impact the cause of death.
