PEORIA, Ill. – Fire crews were called to a home in the area of W. Utah and SW Adams Streets late Wednesday morning in Peoria.
Fire Battalion Chief Steve Rada says when firefighters arrived around 11:30 a.m., they found heavy smoke and fire coming from the back of the home.
The fire started in the kitchen. It was knocked down quickly.
Crews searched the home and found no one inside. It appeared the home was undergoing some renovations.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Damage was estimated at around $5,000.
No firefighter injuries were reported.
