MORTON, Ill (25 News) – The Morton School District confirms it’s investigating a staff member over allegations of discrimination and harassment.
While parents and other media outlets have identified the employee in question as a teacher, District 709 spokesperson Mike Bailey told our news partner 25 News the teacher cannot legally be identified. But, he says a complaint is being looked in to.
“Morton District 709 does not and will not tolerate discrimination or harassment of any kind,” Bailey said. “We are aware of the allegations against a staff member, which are currently under investigation. Due to the ongoing nature of the investigation and the fact that this involves a matter involving both student and employee privacy, we cannot provide further comment.”
25 News reports several dozen people held a protest outside Morton High School Thursday night, claiming the school fosters “an agenda of hatred.”
The parents singled out one particular teacher, who they say has been “hostile toward or about the transgender population.
