PEORIA, Ill. – There’s new information about a residential fire that happened Wednesday morning in Peoria.
Police and the Peoria Fire Department arrived at a home on W. Gift around 10 a.m., finding flames showing from the front of the house.
Police Spokeperson Semone Roth says multiple people were seen leaving the home, some of them known as frequent squatters. Several were detained by the PPD.
46-year-old Augustine Young, fled, but was caught and arrested for obstructing identification, resisting arrest, attempting to disarm an officer, and failure to register as s sex offender.
27-year-old Nija Redden was arrested for obstructing justice, obstructing identification, and an outstanding warrant.
And, the owner of the home, 37-year-old Randy Harvey, was arrested for criminal housing management.
All three people were taken to the Peoria County Jail.
A Peoria Fire Investigator maintained that the fire was accidental, and due to extensive damage, the home was demolished.
